The members of the Parental Couples Project at a conference

Members of the Parental Couples Project attended a number of conferences in recent months:


Between May 8 and 12, Natacha Godbout and our members Élise Villeneuve and Élisabeth Lafleur attended the 90th Conference of the Association canadienne-française pour l'avancement des sciences (Acfas), where Natacha Godbout was co-presenter of the symposium Masculinities: Between strengths and vulnerabilities. Here are the various topics presented by our members:

  • Élise Villeneuve gave an oral presentation on the role of mentalization in the link between fathers' childhood interpersonal traumas and their children's mental health.

  • Élisabeth Lafleur gave an oral presentation on coercive control and its links with identity difficulties among Quebec fathers.

  • Luciana Lassance presented a scientific poster on childhood exposure to interparental conflict and marital conflict management strategies in mothers of young children: the role of negative attributions.

At the conference, Luciana Lassance won a prize in the poster competition for up-and-coming members. Discover Luciana's poster here!


Between May 26 and 28, Luciana Lassance, Élise Villeneuve and Élisabeth Lafleur attended the 45th annual convention of the Société Québécoise pour la Recherche en Psychologie (SQRP) in Sherbrooke. Here are the various topics addressed by our members:

  • Luciana Lassance: Childhood exposure to interparental conflict and conflict management strategies in couples with young children: the role of negative attributions

  • Élisabeth Lafleur presented a scientific poster on cumulative childhood trauma and sexual satisfaction in parenting couples: the role of perceived empathic responses

  • Élise Villeneuve presented a scientific poster on the role of mentalization in the link between parents' interpersonal childhood traumas and their child's mental health: a dyadic study of parental couples

At the conference, Élise Villeneuve won the Best Poster Award! Congratulations Élise!


Between June 14 and 17, the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) conference was held in Belfast, Ireland. Natacha Godbout presented a symposium in which three of our members took part: Camille Rassart, Élise Villeneuve and Cloé Canivet. The symposium was entitled Adult survivors of childhood interpersonal trauma: Resiliency mechanisms and barriers in diverse populations.


Between June 23 and 25, at the CPA's annual national conference in Toronto, Élise Villeneuve presented a scientific poster entitled Parents' mentalization in association with their infants' mental health.
